چکیده
The current study investigated to which extent phenol could be replaced by lignins produce lignin formaldehyde (LPF) resins, utilising soda and sodium lignosulphonate as by-products from the South African pulping industry. were characterised indicated highest reactivity. It was therefore utilised LPF resins at 60%, 80%, 100% substitution, using central composite designs maximise adhesive strength. A one-pot method allowing direct transition phenolation resin synthesis used for first time with a 60% 80% substitution. Plywood made LPF60, LPF80, LPF100 attained their shear strengths of 0.786, 1.09, 0.987 MPa, respectively, adhered GB/T 14,732–2013 standard (? 0.7 MPa). substitution level 68% produced strength 1.11 MPa. High-density particleboard this LPF68 gave MOR MOE 40 3209 adhering ANSI A208.1 requirements. Thickness swelling water absorption 13.5% 37.2%, respectively. soda-lignin isolated precipitation sugarcane bagasse liquor is industrial shown requirements, without modification or additives.

Use of Lignin Separated from Bio-oil in Oriented Strand Board Binder Phenol-formaldehyde Resins
Bio-oil produced from fast pyrolysis of biomass has been investigated as a renewable fuel and as a source of industrial chemicals. The lignin fraction of bio-oil produced from wood in our fast pyrolysis reactor was separated by using only water and methanol with a 25% yield based on bio-oil weight. This separation procedure appears to be of lower cost than the reported extraction procedure usin...
متن کاملWetting Behaviors of Phenol- and Urea-formaldehyde Resins as Compatibilizers
Understanding wetting behavior and surface coverage of resins on a wood surface is important to obtain satisfactory adhesion and optimize adhesive application for wood composite manufacturing. Sessile and micro-droplets of ureaand phenol-formaldehyde (UF and PF) resins were generated on wood surfaces to observe wetting behaviors using three directional image generation system and atomic force m...
متن کاملSynthesis and Cure Kinetics of Liquefied Wood/Phenol/ Formaldehyde Resins
Wood liquefaction was conducted at a 2/1 phenol/wood ratio in two different reactors: (1) an atmospheric three-necked flask reactor and (2) a sealed Parr reactor. The liquefied wood mixture (liquefied wood, unreacted phenol, and wood residue) was further condensed with formaldehyde under acidic conditions to synthesize two novolac-type liquefied wood/phenol/formaldehyde (LWPF) resins: LWPF1 (th...
متن کاملBioproducts from sulfite pulping : Bioconversion of sugar streams from pulp , sludge , and spent sulfite liquor
The production of singleand mixed-sugar streams and their conversion to bioproducts were studied using sulfite pulping streams as feedstocks. Sulfite pulp, sludge, and spent sulfite liquor (SSL) were utilized because they are concurrently generated alongside of bleached pulp, and because the pulping process renders pretreatment unnecessary. SSL, comprised of mostly monomeric hexose and pentose ...
متن کاملSustainable Bio-Based Phenol-Formaldehyde Resoles Using Hydrolytically Depolymerized Kraft Lignin.
In this study bio-based bio-phenol-formaldehyde (BPF) resoles were prepared using hydrolytically depolymerized Kraft lignin (DKL) as bio-phenol to partially substitute phenol. The effects of phenol substitution ratio, weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of DKL and formaldehyde-to-phenol (F/P) ratio were also investigated to find the optimum curing temperature for BPF resoles. The results indic...
